Who we are

About IAWPA

The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) is an International Civil Society Organization with a global mandate to promote peace. Operating as a non-profit entity, IAWPA identifies and appoints credible personalities who exemplify lifestyles rooted in promoting peace, bestowing upon them the title of Eminent Peace Ambassadors across the 193 member states of the United Nations.

In recognition of its impactful activities focused on sustainable development, IAWPA was granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council on June 12, 2019. This status enables the organization to collaborate with various United Nations Agencies, Funds, and Programmes to further the mission of global peace and sustainable development. Additionally, IAWPA is an active participant in the United Nations Global Compact, underlining its commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards of the United Nations.

Our Mandate

Our mandate is to support and enhance the effectiveness of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (formerly the Millennium Development Goals) and UNESCO’s Culture of Peace Program. Our focus areas include maintaining global peace, ensuring international security, and restoring human dignity. Through our advocacy for peace and commitment to sustainable development, IAWPA has built an unmatched track record in promoting the United Nations’ peace objectives and commemorating United Nations International Observance Days in remote regions worldwide.

Our Strength

IAWPA’s strength lies in its network of thousands of volunteers, professionals who bring their skills to communities within their borders and abroad, empowering local people to become the driving force of their communities. These volunteers come from over 190 countries, with nearly two-thirds from the developing world, all dedicated to working for humanity and promoting peace.

Our experts operate in over 193 countries, playing key roles in organizing peaceful elections, delivering emergency relief, promoting human rights, improving health facilities, teaching peace, rendering first aid, promoting gender equality, and protecting the environment.

Reality of Purpose

Since 2012 thousands of International Association of World Peace Advocates, IAWPA have been promoting peace through organizing of peace education, peace workshop and hosting various UN-SDG anniversaries in countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Botswana, Togo, Denmark, Gambia, and South Africa etc.

IAWPA is responding to a changing world by moving into new fields of development from war, violence, unemployment, poverty, and inequality to addressing current problem facing the world such as cybercrime, global health challenges, and flood disasters with a view to providing unending solution for a better world.

International Association of World Peace Advocates, IAWPA do carryout development activities at the grassroots and provide partnership with government institutions and the private sectors and UN agencies around the globe. IAWPA also works with non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in all parts of the world.

International Association of World Peace Advocates, IAWPA preaches peace by bringing the United Nations to communities where such awareness never existed; the association builds stronger neighborhoods and restores peace. By virtue of the United Nations Charter, they are mandated to combat poverty and foster self-reliance and to help villages or groups to develop a stronger voice and visibility in the political arena.

Major partners of the International Association of World Peace Advocates include the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN High Commissioners for Human Rights and for Refugees (UNHCR), UN Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the UN Children Fund (UNICEF), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations Volunteer (UNV).

Our Goals

  • To defend human rights and restore dignity to all persons.
  • To contribute to peace and security by promoting collaboration among groups and individuals through culture and education.
  • To enhance the position of togetherness and family heads through recognition as Peace Advocates for proper family upbringing.
  • To recognize people (both late and alive) as legends and to encourage, the present generation for peace sustainable development.
  • To stimulate reactions in all spheres of life with regard to achieving peace in our society.
  • To connect personalities of high repute to participate in United Nations seminars and conferences around the globe.
  • To bring the presence of the United Nations at the grassroots across 193 countries of the United Nations.
  • To hold governments and world leaders into account on the implementation and achieving sustainable development.
  • To promote United Nations Career Development at various institutions of learning.
  • To ensure the realization of the United Nations Charter leaving no one behind.
  • To establish SDG chapters in churches, schools and in formal and informal organizations.
